Matching Socks

Matching socks to make pairs is one of the things I like least but do yoy know who loves it? My toddlers!  And do you know what is even better?  It is a great brain building activity for them!

You see, making pairs requires visual discrimination, problem solving and patience.  Looking closely enough at something to make sure it matches in size, color, shape and detail is tricky. This practice sets them up for focusing on and determining similarities and differences in all sorts of situations.

This chore that I once dreaded is one of my toddlers’ favorite games!

My oldest toddler has even learned to fold pairs together!

– They have fun!

– I don’t have to do it.

– They work on important skills while doing it!

Win – Win – Win
