Toddlers love to paint. So, in an effort to add variety to our toddler’s painting escapades we started experimenting with the type of brush he uses. Foam brushes offer a very different tactile response than bristle brushes. They also leave a much different look on the paper. Occasionally, to add even more variety, I will get out the foam brushes that I have cut patterns into. To create this type of brush you simply need a sharp pair of scissors to cut away some of the foam – the possibilities are endless. Allow your toddler to experiment with different types of painting materials.
P.S. If you are worried about the mess, make paint out of corn syrup and food coloring and allow your toddler to paint the bath tub. Though it is quite sticky, it washes away easily with only water.
